A foul curse has fallen upon the land of Cvstodia and all its inhabitants – it is simply known as The Miracle.
Play as The Penitent One – a sole survivor of the massacre of the ‘Silent Sorrow’. Trapped in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, it’s down to you to free the world from this terrible fate and reach the origin of your anguish.
Explore this nightmarish world of twisted religion and discover its many secrets hidden deep inside. Use devastating combos and brutal executions to smite the hordes of grotesque monsters and titanic bosses, all ready to rip you limb from limb. Locate and equip relics, rosary beads and prayers that call on the powers of the heavens to aid you in your quest to break your eternal damnation.
In this playthrough, I first try to tackle the game unarmed – and it is BRUTAL. So brutal in fact, I abandon it. But I revist the game later with some assistance. And in Take Two, not only do I take on The Last Son of The Miracle, But the DLC Stir of Dawn which opens up a new story arc about Laudes and The Amenecedas. The game is deeply rooted in Spanish Catholicism, and along with it, comes the pain, the grief and the torture of The Church. To get the GOOD ending, which I think is still pretty dark, you have to explore more of Cvstodia and absolve the town of its guilt and take it upon yourself before you climb The Ashen Mountain at the end of the game and sit upon The Turned Throne.
One of my new favorite games. The music is superb, the violence is satisfying and cathartic, and the story and lore behind the game and every bone, bead, relic and heart is deep and amazing.
Due to a technical glitch, Sessions 1 and 2 of Blasphemous Take Two have been lost to the ether.
