Earlier this month, I received a fantastic letter from the Panel Director at the Phoenix Comic Fest (formerly known as Phoenix Comic Con). He informed me that they were officially extending an invitation to me to host my own panel for the 2018 PCF over Memorial Day weekend.
I, at first, thought it was an elaborate prank. So I contacted my closest friends who have been to PCF in the past and known most of the higher ups for the convention. It was no joke. Apparently I made such a good impression last year, that they want me back. I responded to the Panel Director quickly.
I am extremely grateful and humbled by your invitation. But I do have a few questions. I live all the way in Milwaukee, will travel expenses be accommodated? I want to move forward on this, but I have never hosted my own, so I am just asking to learn. I look forward to your response.
Weeks went by and nothing. I contacted one of my friends and they informed me that they are always running a bit behind. One of my other friends suggested that I just contact the panel director directly. And that kicked off a conversation.
Airfare and hotel accommodations are not included, but I will be getting a full weekend badge. So that’s where this leaves me. I hate asking for help. Partly because of pride, partly because I don’t think I’m worth your help. I’m a Capricorn, it’s against my nature. But here I am still, asking for your help.
Friends have afforded me a place to stay for the entire weekend, so that is taken care of, but I still need help getting there to kick off a new chapter. To only attend a few conventions in my life, and suddenly to be invited to HOST, is an incredible honor, and something that I take very seriously, and I know it will just open new doors along the way.
So, I humbly ask for your help to allow me to live out this unexpected dream. I’ve said so many times on Tumblr that I love the interaction, and working a panel is a direct line to do that. It was glorious last year when I worked the Horror and Creepypasta Panel with Autumn Ivy at the PCC, and then again working with Mr. Creepypasta to host Horror Feud at San Japan – I’m looking to shoot bigger, better, badder.

If you are unable to donate, please share this article, so that someone else may be able to help out. I am thankful for all of my friends and followers, and may Karma be with you.
