If you’ve probably noticed, the last two video entries to the site haven’t looked like they should best way to lose weight quickly. And there is a very simple reason. There is a bug in the software. Apparently, with the latest set of updates to the current theme I am using for WHP, the functionality that displays ALL the videos on the front pagehas ceased to function. Since videos are the prime feature of this site, I was forced to investigate. I went to the developer and searched their support forums for an explanation, if any. I was STUNNED to find that not only has several other customers of this developer been having the same issue, but most, if not all, threads had been untouched for over 2 weeks.
In my eyes, that is not good business. SO… WHP will most likely be going through a bit of comsetic surgery. If you have ever heard of Themeforest.net, they offer some of the most creative, responsive and STABLE themes for WordPress that I’ve ever seen. I’ve used their services for both personal AND professional projects with fantastic results. The best thing about their products is that they seamlessly integrate with social media, e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter.
Some of you may already know that I have my own Twitter account (one I hardly use), but I have also been toying around with the idea of creating a fan Facebook page exclusively for WHP. If you are a fan or member of Creepy Pasta Network, then you probably already know that we started posting all of our blog articles directly to the Facebook page when published. It’s a great way to minimize the need for an external admin to do the work, and still keeps content fresh on your Facebook. Probably most of you already know about WHP Group Therapy on Tumblr so I may be able to integrate that as well.
There will be, of course graphical changes, but they will be for the better. Quicker load times and easier user experience are my main goals. The only downfall is that you will NOT be able to instantly click on a play button to watch WHP Videos. Instead, the theme I am looking at incorporating offers a Lightbox function that launches the video into a popup window and allows you to play it from there. Honestly, I think that is a MUCH better solution and will slash page load times by a considerable margin.
With the success of WHP-TV, I will be creating some new elements for WHP that will incorporate some of the items I featured in the first livestream. I am also extrememly interested in bringing a more friendly experience to those who surf from mobile devices. So, I’m going responsive! You will be able to view the site easily from any mobile device, whether it be tablet or smart phone. There are some other features of this theme that have me all squee like an anime princess. Super filtering, video statistics, breadcrumbs, fantastic ultimate searching capabilties, and the ability to create Top 10 lists.
I am also looking at speeding up the site host-wise. My current host has been a fantastic resource of both answers and heartache, and I wish to stay with them as long as possible, but you have all probably noticed, the site’s just not that quick on the draw. I have contacted my host on what options I have to strap on a Hemi Engine and supercharge this M.F., so I hope to hear back form them on that issue.
With 2014 in full force, I have to consider the future, I consider WHP to be supplimental rather than the forefront, but I do wish for you all to enjoy yourselves while you are here.
